Sam Chemsak | Multidisciplinary Creator
A bit about me...
Hi! Call me Sam (she/her).
I'm a primarily self-taught creator living in West Philly who loves to play with 2D imagery.
My family is made up of several amateur photographers and illustrators, and I was lucky to be exposed to the work of some of the greats from an early age. In regards to photography, William Eggleston and Garry Winogrand managed to leave the deepest impressions on my own eye and style, and the same can said for many mid-century children's story illustrators, such as Quentin Blake and Ludwig Bemelmans.
I would best describe my personal creative style as a series of vignettes largely driven by light, tone, movement, and juxtaposition, which are also uniquely gestural, expressive, empathetic, and open to interpretation. My catalogue will often straddle both moodiness and playfulness, and I take pride in its capacity to be quite dynamic and never monolithic.
Currently, I'm excited to be dabbling in slightly more experimental and conceptual images and mixed media, as well as practicing my hand at videomaking.
My work has been created predominantly for personal use, practice, and enjoyment, or for the benefit of friends and family, as well as past work places and their social media channels or promotional/training materials. I am absolutely open to future collaborations and/or professional opportunities.
